Private transport for family and guests to and from a funeral — arranged beforehand so that on the day, nobody has to think about cars, parking, or who is travelling with whom.
— No. 01 · Funeral & Family Transport
This is not a hearse or a limousine cortege — your funeral director arranges those. What we provide is the quieter piece around them: private transport for family and guests from home to the service, on to the crematorium or graveside, and afterwards to the wake or back home.
It is a small thing that removes a genuinely difficult set of decisions. Who drives. Who has had a drink. Where to park at a crematorium with fifteen minutes between services. Whether an elderly relative can manage the walk from an overflow car park. Arranged in advance, none of it needs discussing on the day.
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class carries seven, which is usually enough to keep a family together in one car rather than split across three. The S-Class and E-Class are available where a smaller, quieter vehicle is preferred. Every vehicle is presented as it always is: cleaned, dark, and unmarked.
Jamie Gifford conducts these journeys personally, as he does every journey. He will be early, he will be in a dark suit, he will not make conversation unless it is wanted, and the car will be where it was agreed to be when the service ends.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class · Travel in Style Essex

The V-Class seats seven, so a family travels in one car rather than a convoy of three. The S-Class suits a smaller party.
The car remains for the duration of the service and afterwards. There is no meter and no pressure to move on.
Dark suit, unmarked vehicle, no conversation unless it is wanted. The chauffeur's job that day is to be unobtrusive.
Timings, addresses and passenger numbers are settled in a single conversation beforehand. Nothing needs deciding on the day.
— No. 02 · How It Is Arranged
Arrangements are made in a single call or exchange of messages, usually with one family member. We do not need much: the addresses, the times, and how many people are travelling.
Enough to keep a family in one vehicle. The S-Class and E-Class each seat four where something smaller is preferred.
Funeral arrangements often come together quickly. We accommodate short notice wherever the diary allows — a call will confirm.
Home, service, crematorium, wake and home again are treated as one booking, not four separate fares.
— No. 03 · How a Journey Unfolds
Your booking is confirmed in writing within the hour. We note your flight number, terminal, passenger count, and any particular requirements — luggage, accessibility, or a preference for a quieter cabin.
From the moment of confirmation, your flight is placed under continuous monitoring. Delays, gate changes, and early arrivals are absorbed without conversation — the schedule adjusts quietly.
The vehicle is cleaned, fuelled, and prepared personally. Refreshments are arranged. A confirmation message is sent when your chauffeur is en route.
For outbound journeys, the car arrives at your address ahead of schedule. Luggage is loaded. Your route has been planned — alternatives identified. There is nothing left to arrange.
For inbound journeys, your chauffeur is present in the arrivals hall from the moment your flight lands — name board in hand. Waiting time for delayed flights is included at no charge.
— No. 04 · Tariff
Funeral transport is quoted as a single arrangement covering the whole day or half-day, rather than by the leg. Waiting time is included throughout.
— What Is Included
The car remains for the service and afterwards. Waiting is part of the arrangement, not an addition to the bill.
Home, service, committal, wake and home again are one arrangement — not four separate journeys to be organised.
Crematorium and church parking is the chauffeur's concern, not the family's. You are set down at the door.
— No. 05 · From Those Who Have Travelled With Us
"I booked as a 60th birthday treat for my husband — Thailand for Christmas and his birthday. I wanted him to arrive in style, and that is exactly what happened. Jamie loaded our bags, gave us a tour of all the facilities, and a gorgeous bottle of bubbly was on ice waiting for us. Chatty but not intrusive. Polite and funny. Very professional."
Marrianne Mason · Verified Facebook Review · January 2025
"Reliable, punctual and friendly service. We were going on a 40th birthday trip and all the little extras certainly made it even more memorable. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. First class service."

— Southend Airport · Your Chauffeur
Travel in Style Essex is not a fleet operation. There is one chauffeur: Jamie Gifford, who founded the service in 2019 and has conducted every journey personally since. When you make an enquiry, you speak to Jamie. When you are collected, it is Jamie at the door.
He holds an advanced RoSPA driving qualification, a clean PCO licence, and a DBS certificate. He drives as he attends to everything else — with composure, without hurry, and with the particular care of someone who takes pride in his work.
"The standard I hold myself to is simple: I ask whether I would be comfortable if the people I most respect could see exactly what I was doing and why. The answer is always yes."
